The 2 days desert tour from Marrakech the Chegaga dunes is a long drive, but it's totally worth it if you don't have enough time to stretch your travels into more days to enjoy a slower pace and spend more time exploring. This tour takes you in a short period of time through the best parts of the Moroccan south to the biggest and wildest dunes of Erg Chegaga. Because of the harsh offroad surrounding the dunes, it has kept its charm and wildness and peace, only camels and 4x4 vehicles can reach the heart of Erg Chegaga where you will be mesmerized by the surrounding sand sea, the astonishing sunsets and sunrises and the hospitality of the locals.

Day 2 : Erg Chegaga – M’hamid – Zagora – Ouarzazate – Marrakech
If you wake up early enough, you can watch the spectacle of the sunrise, when the colour of the dunes and the play of shadows are an awesome sight. After this, After an early breakfast, we leave the beautiful dunes of Erg Chegaga and drive along the Draa valley admiring the palm groves and the old tribal Ksours via Zagora and Agdz to reach the “Hollywood of Africa” named Ouarzazate. After lunch, we drive back to Marrakech past the stunning Atlas.
It is highly recommended to do this tour on a 4 or at least 3 days period, this means less time in the car, slower pace, more stops and more time in the desert.
My girlfriend and I went on two trips with this company, to Imlil and to Zagora. Before we went on the trips the speed of communication from this company was highly commendable and the trips themselves were even better than we expected. Both of our guides were incredibly friendly and helpful and both trips were fantastic value for money. We were able to see so much of the country and to experience some breathtaking landscapes. I highly recommend these trips and this company to anyone.
~ DanWe booked the 2 days Zagora Desert Tour and the day trip to Essaouira and we fell in love with Morocco thanks to this amazing team and the impressive experience we shared together! Their knowledge and experience in the tourism industry makes them the perfect companions for the road. It was the best choice for our holiday in Marrakech!
~ RalucaWe had the best time with our driver Hakim who drove us to the Zagora desert. He told us everything about Marocco and made us feel really comfortable. We defenitely recommend this agency as we had one of the best experiences of our life! Thank you Hakim & Marrakech Day Trips!
~ EvaIt was an amazing and unforgettable trip to the beginning of the desert in Zagora. Although it was a very long drive on both days, it has never been annoying to sit in the car as our driver Ismail made various stops and showed us incredible places!! The restaurants for the lunch breaks have been chosen very well and the food was amazing! Our local guide in Ait Ben Haddou has a very a good knowledge about the city and showed us also very interesting things in the new city! Besides, the chosed desert camp was amazing. We had lovely evening with traditional food, a small fire and interesting stories about nomads life! The camel ride has been a lot of fun! I could just recommend this agency and especially Ismail as a guide! I'll definitely come back to Morocco and will do another tour with this agency!
~ TaniaMy partner and I signed up for the 2D1N Zagora stay as we did not have time to go for the longer / farther trips. We almost didn't get to go, as there were floods the day before we flew to Morocco, which rendered the roads impassable. We were sorely disappointed, and asked to be kept updated of the weather conditions. Lahcen was prompt in his email responses, and we were very glad that the roads opened up the night before we were to leave. Our guide / driver Adil arrived early at our riad, and we set off at a good pace. He was fluent in a number of languages, including English and told us geological and historical information during the trip. We stopped at places of interest such as Aït Ben Haddou. Stops and meals were well timed. The 1.5 hour camel ride took place before the sunset and the view was atop a sand dune. Bring a scarf and shades to protect your face from the flying sand. The camp was interesting, with private tents which stayed at a comfortable temperature despite strong winds outside. Bring water as it is not provided at the camp. The bed I was on was sandy, and pillow cases slightly stained. I guess it was acceptable as it was in the middle of the desert. The food and hospitality by the Berber hosts were good, considering that it was in the middle of the desert. Toilet facilities were clean and decent. Also protected from the cold. There was cold / warm running water from the showers and sinks. Remember to bring towels as well for the shower! We woke in the middle of the night and saw beautiful stars, including the Milky Way. The next morning, we were also given the option of waking for the sunrise before the camel ride again back to our vehicle. All in, a very enjoyable experience, including the camel rides.
~ AdelineThe Overnight in the desert was an unforgettable experience for us. We travelled with Marrakech Day Trips and our guide Ibrahim was extremely polite, professional punctual but enough friendly to make the most of this trip. He was very patient answering all the questions and giving us enough time to stretch our legs every time that we needed. He was doing the extra mile telling us about the culture of the country. He never pushed any shopping situation and gave us always the best advices to enjoy every moment of the excursion. The overnight was with Caravan du Sud and the Berber guides made the party in the camp and the camel ride a very comfortable moment, these gentlemen sorted all our needs. The food is very cheap and tasty, the staff of restaurants was always pleased to serve us. In our way back we could visit Ait Ben Haddou, Heritage of Unesco and the guide contracted from this company gave us a great experience. I would like to clarify that all of them were speaking English perfectly as well as French and Arabic, even some of them could express themselves in Spanish. The company is very keen with the quality and actually is offering a superb service with honestly and lovely temper. Of course we will repeat ASAP but choosing a longer trip.
